Fruit and spice and all that's nice, this is Intense with a capital 'I'. It's a wine of raw power, self-evidently a grower's wine from the best slope in Morgon. It has an inner soul of primary - you might even say angular - jumbled flavours that destine this adolescent Morgon to be a stunning beauty.

'Roches Pourries' (rotten rocks) refers to the crumbled, flaky rock rich in iron oxide and manganese which imparts a red ochre colour to the soil of the prized vineyard of Cote du Py. 55-year old Gamay grapes are harvested by hand from the best vineyard in the Cru, and only the best clusters of grapes are reserved for this wine.

This is fantastic, complex Beaujolais and rewards drinking with game or other strongly-flavoured meats.
