Domaine Chante Cigale Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2016, Rhone, France

Domaine Chante Cigale Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2016, Rhone, France

RRP: £23.00
Bottle Price: £21.00

The only Rhone white to be awarded a Gold at the 2010 Sommelier Wine Awards.

A perfectly harmonious blend of 25% Clairette, 25% Roussanne, 25% Grenache Blanc, and 25% Bourboulenc.

A full-bodied white with rich, ripe pear fruit that develops into floral and herby peachiness. The wine has a long leesy character and fresh acidity. Attractive when young but worth leaving for a couple of years, which will allow the wine to develop some wonderful nutty and mineral notes. 8 year ageing potential, possibly even a decade.

A real treat on its own or with goat's milk or sheep's milk cheeses, delicate pork or full flavoured fish dishes with cream and herbs such as dill. Also goes well with shellfish and pretty much any seafood and stands up well to rich cream sauces.

Domaine Chante Cigale, located within the village of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, has been owned and operated by the Sabon Favier family for several generations. Consisting of 102 acres of land classified Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the wines produced from this Domaine can be considered as classic, wellmade, reasonably priced Châteauneufs.

The Domaine Chante Cigale produces 5 times more white wine than the other producers in Châteauneuf and it's Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc has won several gold medals in Orange and Paris. We can expect the same for the 2016 vintage.
