Pirie South Pinot Noir 2009, Tasmania, Australia

Pirie South Pinot Noir 2009, Tasmania, Australia

RRP: £13.49
Bottle Price: £11.99

PIRIE SOUTH is about producing fresh, aromatic wines to complement modern food styles, using the finesse of Northern Tasmanian fruit. The combination of a truly cool climate and summer rainfall, features which Tasmania shares with Northern France and New Zealand, make Tasmania particularly well suited to the production of these early-drinking wine styles.

2009’s very low crops provided strong colour, pronounced bouquet and good fruit weight.  White Hills’ typical black cherry aromas are complemented by sweet plum and floral notes.  The palate is full and textured with a plush mid palate which finishes sweet and clean. Age up to 4 years and serve in a big glass to capture the perfume. Delicious!

As Matthew Jukes put it in the Daily Mail, September 2011:

"This is one of my 100 best Australian wines of 2011 - a captivating, silky smooth, plum-soaked pinot.  With a heavenly nose and a perfect palate, this wine shows Tassie is becoming a pinot territory to be reckoned with."
