If you already love Madiran then you'll know that this is a big, brooding red that picks up awards year after year.

Almost black in colour, the nose is full of red berries and spice, complemented by nutty and oaky qualities imparted by the barrique barrel fermentation. On the palate notes of liquorice are detectable along with a definite hint of old-fashioned King mints.

The estate vines are between 40 and 100 years old. Old vines produce less fruit but with more concentrated flavour, and the roots go very deep - extracting more mineral character and trace elements.

Bonfires, Christmas cake, mocha and spice - this is the ideal autumn and winter warmer, the perfect foil for venison, roast red meat, rich and spicy salami or mature cheese. A brilliant expression of this regional classic - 90% Tannat and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
