As James Halliday states in his 2011 Australian Wine Companion, 'It may be a dauntingly competitive marketplace but there can be few more promising new ventures than this one.'

Winemaker Elena Brooks uses Cabernet Sauvignon from Stranger's Reach vineyard, in a prime position overlooking the Finniss River wetlands. The vineyard is cooled by the Great Southern Ocean, and the deep alluvial soils and low rainfall help the tough Cab Sauv produce rich, concentrated flavour in the grapes.

Hand-picked, crushed into open-top fermenters, fermented for 14 days, basket pressed into French and Bulgarian barriques, matured there for 18 months then bottled without fining or filtration - that's the way to capture the essence of the vineyard!

The wine is an intense, regal purple with bright edges. Scented blueberries and hints of sweet cassis over dark fruit cake and spicy cedar, blackberries and cream. Wait, there's more. Cedar, clove, nutmeg and classic Cabernet tannin are softened by ripe and mouthfilling fruit, leading to a soft and extended finish.
